Our employees make Fraunhofer UMSICHT what it is.
They help determine the professional, entrepreneurial and social skills through their willingness to perform. It is a matter of course for us to encourage and support our employees.
Further training/qualification
We consistently promote the skills and qualifications of our employees in the form of seminars and are happy to advise on individual personnel development measures.
Transfer of knowledge
Employees acquire knowledge and skills that will enable them to take on challenging positions outside the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. The “transfer through minds” - the passing on of technological knowledge via people - is one of Fraunhofer's tasks.
Freedom for creativity and personal responsibility
Managers lead with a focus on people and results. They delegate responsibility comprehensively to their employees and thus grant the greatest possible freedom for creative and independent work.
Target agreement in employee management
In employee appraisals, managers discuss their professional goals and personal development with their employees. They agree on the steps required to achieve them. They regularly discuss the status of implementation.
Internationality
Employees from other nations enrich the professional and cultural skills of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. Its institutes offer them an attractive workplace and collegial integration into the social environment.
Protection of health
Protecting the health of its employees is a matter of course for Fraunhofer UMSICHT. We therefore place the highest demands on occupational safety and workplace quality. In addition, we invite the entire workforce to a health day once a year.
Our company medical service is on hand with help and advice to support your health. In addition, we invite the entire workforce to a health day once a year, where various check-ups can be carried out. We also offer free flu vaccinations.
Equal opportunities
»More women in applied research« is an important goal of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. The proportion of women must be increased in all areas in which women are poorly represented. In order to achieve this goal, the different life situations and interests of women and men must be taken into account from the outset and continuously in all projects and programs. Measures to improve equal opportunities are derived from this, both for staff recruitment and for the entire period of employment of female staff.
Work-life balance
One focus of equal opportunities is the criterion of reconciling leisure, family and career. A good work-life balance is a high priority for employees. As an attractive employer, Fraunhofer UMSICHT gives all employees the opportunity to organize their activities flexibly as far as possible. We support part-time and home office working models, as well as the possibility of sabbaticals.
With-child office
A parent-child office, a so-called Mit-Kind-Büro (MiKi-Büro), is available for employees of the institute. The MiKi office can be used for one or two days a week, particularly in the event of childcare shortages or when returning to work after parental leave. Equipped with a bed, changing table and toys, it is suitable for children between the ages of 0 and 12 while the parent can get on with their work.
Diversity management
At the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, teams are composed as evenly as possible. They therefore utilize the creative potential of both genders, different age groups, cultures and disciplines, thereby increasing the quality of their results. Fraunhofer is a member of the »Diversity Charter«.
