Christian Groves with lecture on »Design of a pyrolysis gas cleaning system for oxyfuel combustion with prior hydrogen extraction«
Fraunhofer UMSICHT is participating in the cleanair 2025 - 16th International Conference on Combustion Technologies for a Clean Environment. In his presentation, Christian Groves, Department Clean Combustion and Process Heat, will talk about a pyrolysis gas cleaning system for oxyfuel combustion with prior hydrogen extraction.
Fraunhofer UMSICHT's research into combustion plants and low-emission combustion processes is multifaceted.
At the Sulzbach-Rosenberg branch of the Fraunhofer Institute UMSICHT, we develop, optimize and test combustion processes and combustion plants. One focus of our development and research work is on systems and processes for the optimum energy recovery of residual and waste materials, e.g. the combustion of biomass with a high nitrogen content.
One thrust of technology development for combustion technology at Fraunhofer UMSICHT is accordingly:
The optimal integration of combustion systems into ideally CO2-negative process chains, in particular through the development of oxyfuel combustion processes and BECCU systems (Bionergy Carbon Capture and Utilization).
